WHAT WE DO
The role of the community safety-net hospital is as important as ever, with one in three Californians enrolled in Medi-Cal and many more remaining uninsured. As federally qualified disproportionate share hospitals (DSH), the private safety-net hospitals are essential to access, essential to health and essential to communities.
PEACH is the only statewide association serving the unique needs of California’s community safety-net hospitals. The organization provides direct representation and advocacy in Washington, D.C. and in Sacramento on federal and state legislative and regulatory issues that impact Medicaid, Medi-Cal and related financing.
Most of the private health systems and independent hospitals with DSH status are valued members of PEACH. Because PEACH members provide nearly 40 percent of all Medi-Cal inpatient care and 65 percent of mental health in the safety-net, we are focused on protecting, preserving and finding innovative solutions for community safety-net hospital financing.

We are committed to serving the underserved populations that live in rural, agricultural, urban and metropolitan areas throughout the state. They are all federally qualified as Disproportionate Share Hospitals (DSH), meaning they are integral to meeting the healthcare needs for all Californians.
